The problem
A thermostatic expansion valve is a mechanically actuated throttling device with no electrical signals to grab, so its life can only be measured by running pressure cycles over and over. Feeding nitrogen by hand one valve at a time, a 200000-cycle endurance run takes forever and one power or gas interruption voids the count - while appliance makers demand a 200000-cycle fatigue report before the valve can even ship.
Capability
Five stations in a row test five valves in parallel, each with independent counting and judgement. Set the regulator to the 4.3MPa assessment pressure, let two solenoid valves alternate every 1.5 seconds to form the pressure cycle, and 200000 cycles complete automatically. Preset cycles run from 0 to 500000; if power is lost the current count is remembered and the run resumes where it stopped. Test pressure, open/close pulse and frequency are all settable, with automatic alarm-stop on abnormalities. A 0-6MPa digital gauge is accurate to better than 0.5 percent, a 0-10000L/H digital gas flow meter to better than 2 percent, and voltage and current readouts to better than 0.5 percent; pressure, flow and pulse count are sampled live and curves are recorded. The design follows the endurance test methods of JB/T 10212 and JB/T 10386 and is compatible with the 4.3MPa / 200000-cycle fatigue clauses of valve enterprise standards. Gas supply is clean high-purity nitrogen at 6MPa or above; the bench runs on AC220V at about 1kW in -10 to 40C.
