The problem
Refrigerator, freezer and display cabinet doors are large and heavy, in single, double and side-by-side layouts. Because the gasket pulls hard, any gripper with lateral thrust will pull the door off its hinges within tens of thousands of cycles. Manual testing of a large fridge takes two people and records neither cycle count nor force. A store-front cabinet is opened all day, so hinge and gasket life must be proven with million-cycle data.
Capability
A rotary cylinder of 125mm bore (750W power equivalent) drives the arm about the door axis with pure rotation and no lateral thrust, so the door is not pushed off its hinges. The tester covers single and double doors of large and small refrigerators, freezers and display cabinets, and the double-door version exercises both leaves at once. Samples from 700 to 1400mm are held by aluminium sleeve fixtures with pins and quick straps, about 25 kg in total. Opening angle is 0-135 degrees and speed 0-10 cycles per minute, both set on the HMI, with the cycle counter settable up to 1000000. During powered cycles a current sensor watches the sample, while a photoelectric sensor checks door state - a door that fails to open or fails to close (dropped hinge or loose grip) is flagged immediately. Changing between left and right doors is a matter of re-orienting the pneumatic fingers and the arm output shaft, with no modification to the machine body. A booster pump at 0.6-1.2MPa keeps grip pressure stable, and several units can run side by side without interference.
